Louise Neal Pedroza
Acrylic
About the Artist:
Louise paints the people and scenes of Mexico. She also does commissions of babies, pets, and any subject desired. She paints from photos on canvas with acrylic paint. Louise grew up in the Mexican-American community of Decoto, in Northern California (now Union City in Fremont). She is inspired to paint scenes of Mexican life from her photos of travelling the country of Mexico. Her twin sister went on to become a renowned woodcarver.
Art Education
Louise grew up in California with her twin sister, who is also an artist who does wood carvings. At a very early age they both studied with Mona Froyland Valencia, whose father is the famous Spanish artist Manuel Valencia. They also studied sketch with the artist Howard Brodie, best known for World War II combat, as well as courtroom sketches. Louise feels her influence of portraiture was inherited from her grandfather, Walter Frank Whipple, 1877-1936, a stage and screen star who taught Lon Chaney how to mix and apply makeup.
Sales & Exhibitions
She has participated in various juried shows in the U.S. – “Cultures Without Borders” in Kansas City, and “Rethink Topeka” in Topeka, Kansas, as well as shows in Columbia, MD. She has paintings on display at Fridas Rincón in Jocotepec, and Restaurante Tatehuari in Ajijic.
